International Paralympic Day
A full day of activity was planned to celebrate elite Paralympic sport at Trafalgar Square and give the public a chance to find out about each of the 20 sports that will take place at London 2012. This fantastic celebration has showcased the 20 Paralympic sports at London 2012, enabling the public to find out more about next year's Games. Hosted by the London 2012 Organising Committee, it featured demonstrations in sports including Wheelchair Basketball, Powerlifting and Wheelchair Rugby. Ben Dearnley, Oscar Pistorius and Iwan Thomas presented in the International Paralympic Day's celebration a new bronze torso sculpture by Dearnley. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson also visited the event and talked with many athletes and Londoners about the next Paralmpic Games.

Successful open night at the Transport Museum
Following the success of two similar events in May, a further free open evening at the London Transport Museum took place on Friday 2nd September, from 7.00pm until 10.00pm. During this event visitors had the opportunity to explore the design of the bus on short guided tours. Ahead of the eagerly awaited arrival of the first prototype of the Mayor’s New Bus for London, visitors to the Capital had a further chance to see a life-size 3D mock-up of the bus on display.
Government plans to remove
Parliament Square tent camp
The tented village in Westminster could finally be removed under Government plans.Campaigners set up "Democracy Village" on the green in May 2010 but were evicted in July by the Greater London Authority following a High Court order. But many protesters then pitched tents on the pavement next to the lawn, which is controlled by Westminster Council. Policing minister Nick Herbert confirmed the coalition planned to tackle what many critics believe is an eyesore blighting one of London's top tourist destinations.
